Position 1:
UofSC Research Computing is seeking an undergraduate to participate in a Deep Learning (DL) optimization and High Performance Computing (HPC) benchmarking project. The successful candidate will conduct work on state-of-art industry-level HPC clusters, high performance storage, and GPU accelerators. Duties will include setting up a benchmarking suite in a parallel cluster environment, building necessary libraries, writing shell scripts to build frameworks, and optimizing DL training models.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with Linux administration, Bash shell scripts, and Python
- Basic knowledge of Deep Learning
- Good Mathematics background in Linear Algebra, Statistics
- Good communication skills
- Immediate availability is preferred

Position 2:
UofSC Research Computing is searching for an undergraduate to develop and maintain web content. The duties of the position will include communicating with staff members and collecting requirements, documenting development process, modernizing existing web content, creating new pages, and other duties as assigned. This position will be a unique opportunity to learn greater skills in web development and will offer a thorough introduction to Research Computing and High Performance Computing.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with website programming
- Experience with Content Management Systems
- Knowledge of HTML 5.0, CSS, and JavaScript
- Good communication skills

Position 3:
UofSC Research Computing is seeking a student to take part in a research project involving Computer Vision and Deep Learning. The student will work closely with a diverse team of Computer Vision researchers, Information Scientists, and History researchers to analyze and optimize face detection techniques and implement computationally complex training models on High Performance Computing clusters. This position provides an outstanding opportunity for a student to be working directly with researchers and subject matter experts on a variety of advanced topics.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Hands-on experience with Python, C/C++
- Preferred courses: Linear Algebra, Computer Vision, Machine Learning
- Knowledge of Deep Learning concepts
- Highly self-motivated
- Up to 20 hours per week during school year
- Good communication skills
