Instructor at UofSC CSE Department

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Carolina, Columbia is seeking applications for a full-time non-tenure track Instructor position beginning Fall 2020. The duties of this position are to (1) teach undergraduate courses in computer science and engineering, which may include computer programming (Python, JAVA, C++), web programming (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), computer engineering (architecture, embedded systems, advanced digital logic), data structures and algorithms, databases, operating systems, networks, computer security, and software engineering; (2) prepare course syllabi and handouts; (3) evaluate and grade student assignments and papers; (4) maintain required records, including student attendance and grades; (5) hold regularly-scheduled office hours to advise and assist students; and (6) participate in program and department meetings and activities. Minimum requirements for this position are a Master’s degree in computer science or closely related field and a commitment to excellence in teaching. McNair Junior Fellows: 34 Summer Research Jobs at UofSC

Earlier this month, CEC Undergraduate students received information that the McNAIR Junior Fellows program is now accepting applications for summer 2020, and students were highly encouraged to engage with faculty to formulate their research plans. The program, in its 6th year since its foundation, and in its 2nd year as an official CEC program, provides supports for undergraduate students up to 3k$ in summer funds and runs activities that helps the students further explore research (as well as research posters, state of the art and other research initiation programs). Charleston Digital Hub of Booz Allen Hamilton Hackathon

The Charleston Digital Hub of Booz Allen Hamilton is excited to be hosting our second annual public Hackathon on Saturday, March 7th. REU at Florida Atlantic University

Florida Atlantic University NSF - Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Sensing and Smart Systems Florida Atlantic University's Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (I-SENSE) hosts an intensive summer research program in sensing and smart systems for talented undergraduate students across the country. Closely related to the Internet of Things, smart systems represent an emerging class of distributed systems that provide real-time awareness of conditions, trends, and patterns to support improved decision-making, and often, automation. The on-campus research will focus on I-SENSE’s three main program areas: Infrastructure Systems, Marine and Environment and Health and Behavior. YOUR FLORIDA EXPERIENCE This paid, nine-week program focuses on training, mentoring, research and an overall experience for students that prepares them for graduate studies or careers in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) disciplines. Undergraduate researchers are paid $600 along with a $130 meal allowance, per week. Participants will also receive $600 travel allowances. Girls Go For IT Summer Camp Instructors

Website for Baseball Staff

Research Computing at UofSC DoIT Looking for Undergraduate

Research Computing at UofSC DoIT is looking for a self-initiative undergraduate to participate in Deep Learning (DL) optimization and High Performance Computing (HPC) benchmarking project. The successful candidate will work on the state-of-art industry-level HPC clusters and GPFS storage. The duties include: setting up benchmarking suite in cluster parallel environment, building necessary libraries, writing shell scripts to build frameworks and optimizing training DL models. Potential student with data science and GIS skills

I am writing to inquire if you have students or could forward to students who might be interested in working on project related to water supply policy in Kenya. The project includes the cleaning and basic analysis of a large, multi year dataset of household water use in Kenya. The student must be detail oriented and have the skills and aptitude to clean and validate panel data. (The task can be performed in Stata, r, Matlab or Python). Given that the data have a spatial component, the student should also have the ability to perform basic GIS mapping and analysis. Someone with an interest in data visualization would be ideal. Depending on the student’s preferences, I can structure the work as independent research, an independent study, or a paid hourly research assistantship. I am keen to get started ASAP on this work. Research Data Manager: Graduate Research Assitantship

The Research Data Manager will be responsible for management of multiple complex datasets from longitudinal observational and intervention studies. The primary activities of this position are data quality assurance checks, management of research data, creation of new summary variables, creation of datasets for investigators, creation of data tables for reports and papers. The Research Data Manager will support research data collection and management activities Primary Responsibilities Are as Follows
  •  Extract and manage multiple datasets from existing cloud-based platforms (i.e. Fitabase, Actilife, Twilio, Qualtrics)
  •  Implement and trouble shoot R code to extract, catalog and manage large amounts of data
  •  Develop data flow diagrams and data dictionaries to document origins, transformations, and outputs
  •  Perform complex data manipulations using multiple file and data sources
  •  Develop and implement strategies and procedures for data cleaning
  •  Develop Standard Operating Procedures for managing data
  •  Design and program databases as needed.
  •  Perform data cleaning, including identifying potential problems with study data
  •  Create new summary variables
  •  Merge, create, and recode variables to prepare data for analyses
  •  Create datasets for analysis by other investigators
  •  Create tables and figures in publication-quality form summarizing the results of statistical analyses
  •  Write detailed documentation/specifications for analysis data sets and related files
  •  Use survey platforms to create, send, or manage surveys (i.e. Qualtrics)
  •  Attend staff meetings and provide updates on status of projects
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory)
  •  Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  •  Three (3) years related experience.
  •  Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience.
