Abstract
This dissertation develops a routing scheme that guarantees delivery and real-time performance constraints for distributed controller networks having static, periodic traffic patterns and suffer unexpected faults. The proposed scheme targets an electrical distribution system consisting of a set of power electronic converters with associated local controller sharing a common global controller. Each converter and local controller uses FPGA-based interfaces to a torus network topology supporting static traffic patterns needed to achieve real-time control. The proposed routing scheme will maintain delivery and performance guarantees for unpredictable node and channel failures through balancing channel load and limiting routing path distance. To achieve these goals, we will investigate two approaches. The first will precompute optimal routing tables for failure state contingencies. The second is to use unused channel capacity for redundant packets that follow maximally divergent paths
