I’m Ting Fung Ma, an assistant professor in the Department of Statistics. I am recruiting a paid undergraduate research assistant for an NSF-funded project and would appreciate your help sharing the opportunity with Computer Science and Engineering students.
The project develops deep learning methods for spatial and spatiotemporal data, with connections to generative AI and scalable statistical inference and prediction. The student would participate in programming, simulation studies, data analysis, and communicating research results. The expected commitment is approximately 10 hours per week for 20 weeks, starting immediately.
Experience with Python is required; additional experience with PyTorch, R, MATLAB, GIS software, or high-performance computing would be helpful. Students considering an Honors thesis are also encouraged to get in touch, although Honors status is not required.
Further details are on my openings page. Interested students should email their CV and transcript to tingfung@mailbox.sc.edu.
