Title: Storage and Virtualization Administrator
Department: IT – Business Operations Support
Reports to: Business Operations Manager
Location: Hargray Communications, Hilton Head Island
FLSA Status Exempt
General Description of Position:
Responsible for the availability, reliability, performance, and maintenance of supported storage, backup, and virtualization platforms.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the following.
- Manage enterprise storage and virtualization environment, including, but not limited to EMC Storage Array’s (NS, VNX), VMware v4/5, HP All-in-one Storage Server, and EMC DataDomain Disk Libraries.
- Maintains efficient and reliable backup and recovery procedures.
- Performs maintenance activities as needed to keep environments current and secure.
- Interact with the business and other IT personnel to produce the highest customer service for our end users.
- Ability to maintain a professional composure with customers in difficult situations
- Knowledge of Server platforms, including, but not limited to Microsoft Windows Server (2003, 2008, 2012), Redhat Linux V4/5, and CentOS.
- Communicates effectively and clearly with all departments and employees to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to customer information and employee records.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in field; includes self-study and company provided training
- Documents internal policies and/or develops training material for end-users.
- Monitors and troubleshoots storage, backup, and virtualization infrastructure to ensure optimal performance at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT field, or equivalent with 5 years minimum related experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work independently on projects of moderate to broad scope
- Experience with VMware v4/5, VMware View, and EMC DataDomain DDOS.
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
- Great in troubleshooting technical issues, while being able to stay calm in high pressure situations
- VMware Certification highly desired
- Understanding and usage of complete software development lifecycle methodology
- Develop new applications and modifications to existing applications utilizing Oracle Designer and Developer tools including Oracle Forms, Reports, Exports, etc.
- Develop new applications and modifications using PL/SQL programming with Oracle databases and interfacing applications
- Develops forms, reports, procedure modules and other associated components necessary for the development of applications for Hargray
- Develops custom forms and reports in order to meet specific functional and system requirements to meet the needs of Hargray customer
- Provides programming assistance in support of system and module problem correction, enhancements, tuning and other maintenance and operation related issues
- Creates test plans and performs unit tests of all development modifications
- Performs system integration testing as necessary
- Provides assistance during user acceptance testing
- Provides assistance during all transition and implementation activities
- Conducts technology research required for development of application interfaces
- Participates in on-going training for requirements necessary for support of mission critical applications
- Provides task completion status reporting and technical problem reporting to the appropriate management personnel
- Communicates effectively and clearly with all departments and employees to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 2+ years of Oracle experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work independently on projects of moderate to broad scope
- Knowledge of programming tools, methods, platforms, and operating systems. Ability to productively apply programming tools to solve business challenges and problems
- Strong Knowledge of Oracle database and SQL
- Minimum of 2 years experience with Oracle Developer
- Suite, preferably 11g. Knowledge of other Oracle
- Fusion Middleware components and Linux is a plus
- Prior work experience with Pitts.Con is a plus
