Details:
This very special meeting will feature three topics important to us, and anyone using or wanting to participate in open source. Even better, all content will be delivered by GitHub.
Topic #1: An introduction to Git and GitHub
This will be delivered Patchwork style (patchwork.github.io) and is a hands-on workshop for those wanting to learn more about Git and GitHub. Exercises are self-directed and mentors are available to help out. *Please note this is not an official Patchwork event, rather, the Patchwork curriculum will be covered.
Topic #2: Contributing to Open Source
Important to anyone wanting to contribute. The why's and how-to's will be covered and discussed.
Topic #3: Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
We'll wrap up by covering some advanced topics around Continuos Integration and Continuos Deployment. Again, topics extremely important in today's technology environment.
Our speaker: Tommy Byrd
Tommy is an Enterprise Solutions Engineer for GitHub out of Atlanta Georgia. He's held numerous technical positions in the past but our favorite is Director of Broadcast Production at Dragon Con!
As always, the meeting will feature food, drinks, swag and fantastic networking. And don't forget to bring stickers. We'll have a sticker table and swapping is highly encouraged.
Doors open at 6:00 pm but feel free to arrive early. Programming will start at approximately 6:30 with announcements from the community. No sweat if you arrive late also. We understand night classes, work, family, etc. We get it..
